Milford nursing home granted 24-bedroom extension planning permission

Plans include eight apartments for short-term staff accommodation
Planning permission has been granted by Donegal County Council for the extension of a Milford nursing home, providing an additional 24 ensuite bedrooms to the site.
Áras Uí Dhomhnail Nursing Home, located between Milford and Ramelton, will see the construction of a two-storey extension to the existing nursing home, to provide an additional 24 ensuite bedrooms with ancillary spaces, as well as a two-storey accommodation block containing eight two-bed apartments.
Included in the development plans was the upgrading of a previously approved and installed on-site wastewater treatment plant, and all associated site works to include additional parking.
Planning permission was granted by Donegal County Council in July with 19 conditions. It was concluded that prior to the commencement of development, the developer shall provide a sum of €160,000 in cash or bond to ensure the provision to completion of all services required by the development, including roads, sewers, water supply, footpaths, public lighting, open spaces, and other services.
It was ruled that the staff accommodation building shall “not be used for permanent occupancy but shall be used solely as short-term accommodation for the staff of the nursing home.”
The Áras Uí Dhomhnill Nursing Home was opened in December 2005 and currently has 44 single ensuite and two double ensuite bedrooms.
Long and short-term respite care is provided at the facility, as well as palliative care and hospital step-down care to a growing number of residents.
