Moville Festival has packed programme of events and live music next week

‘We want people to come out and enjoy what’s going on; to make memories for themselves and their families’
The countdown is well and truly on for this year’s annual Moville Festival, with a packed programme of events and live music planned for the seaside town.
The popular summer festival takes place from July 10-13, and everyone is invited to join in the fun by the banks of the Foyle.
One of the organisers, Eamon McLaughlin, says the main emphasis is once again on family entertainment.
“We’re looking forward to a great weekend, and we’d encourage everybody to come out with their families, to enjoy the music, the events, the sports – and let’s make it a weekend to remember for all.”
Festival Sunday, July 13, coincides with Donegal’s All-Ireland semi-final against Meath, and Eamon is hoping “we’ll all be in a celebratory mood” by then.
“We want people to come out and enjoy what’s going on; to make memories for themselves and their families,” he said.
Festival PRO Eamon praised other members of the committee – including Declan Carey, Margaret Harkin and Martin McColgan – for all their efforts and hard work in organising the events.
The bumper weekend opens as usual with Festival Bingo at St Eugene’s Hall on Thursday night, July 10 at 9pm.
The traditional Moville Festival Queens pageant will take place at Annie’s Bar on Friday, July 11 from 8.30pm, hosted by master of ceremonies Eamon McLaughlin.
Saturday, July 12 has a series of events for everyone, beginning with the morning Pet Show with Sadie Carey on the Green at 11am. Bake Rona’s Kids Treasure Hunt gets underway on the Green from 12 noon, followed by the Jamie Doherty Memorial Bonny Baby Show at St Eugene’s Hall at 2pm.
The ever-popular Family Walkabout Treasure Hunt will test your knowledge of all things Moville, as you stroll around the town searching for clues. It gets underway at McGettigan’s from 4pm on Saturday afternoon.
The talented Cavanagh Brothers will then bring down the curtain on a busy festival Saturday, with live music on the Square from 8pm.
Sunday, July 13 opens with the Moville Celtic Sports Day from 2pm at the Bayfield, while there will be two live concerts in the Square on Sunday evening, with The Hitman and Her (6pm) and The David Craig Band (9pm).
