A coffee morning, bake sale and thrift shop fundraiser for Letterkenny Pride will be held at The Counter Deli from 11am-2pm this Sunday.

The event was originally scheduled to take place at New Kid Coffee in Bonagee, however organisers say the event had to be moved due to objections.

Letterkenny Pride explained the move on social media: “We have made the difficult decision to change the venue for our fundraiser scheduled for Sunday, June 29. This follows objections directed to our previous venue. In order to protect our ally, New Kid Coffee, and our attendees, we will be moving to The Counter Deli.

“We at Letterkenny Pride have always been honest and open about why we exist. It is our mission to foster an inclusive Letterkenny community and end homophobia in all its forms. This is the most significant example of homophobia that we have encountered and that is why we must continue with our fundraiser in a new venue - The Counter Deli.

“We stand in full solidarity with New Kid Coffee and are committed to ensuring our events are held in spaces that are safe and inclusive for all. We want to be very clear that New Kid Coffee have been nothing but supportive, accommodating and generous in their offer to host the fundraiser. We are delighted to continue our partnership with them in The Counter.”

The event is family-friendly and will help raise vital funds to support the planning and delivery of Letterkenny Pride 2025. The event promises a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with something for everyone to enjoy. Admission is free, and raffle tickets and thrift shop items will be available for purchase throughout the morning.

Attendees can look forward to freshly brewed artisan coffee and homemade treats provided by local bakers. The curated thrift shop will offer high street and designer finds, both new and pre-loved. A live DJ will set the tone with chilled Sunday tunes, while a community raffle will feature a great range of prizes donated by local businesses. There will also be entertainment for children, including a clown and face painting, ensuring fun for all ages.

“We’re so grateful to everyone who’s coming out to support this fundraiser,” said Kayleigh Bowery, Chairperson of Letterkenny Pride. “Every cup of coffee, every raffle ticket, every donated item - it all helps us build a Pride that truly reflects the heart and diversity of our community. We couldn’t do this without the incredible generosity and solidarity of people across Letterkenny and Donegal. This event is as much about coming together as it is about raising funds, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone.”
