Next step in redevelopment phase in Burtonport is on the horizon

A viewing point at the harbour could provide dramatic views of the coastline and islands
The future looks bright for the coastal village of Burtonport as a further phase of the redevelopment plan goes out to tender. Work is expected to begin on the project before the end of this year.
Donegal County Council is currently seeking a contractor to deliver the development.
Councillor Micheal Choilm Mac Giolla Easbuig commended all of those affiliated with the project and said that plans will see two buildings at the harbour, one which will home the ferry service booking booths as well as provide a viewing area for people who are waiting at the harbour. The harbour master will also have an office there.
There will also be a two-storey building built which will be a commercial premises at the harbour.
A changing places toilet is also expected to be built in the area.
Cllr Mac Giolla Easbuig said that it is important that the voice of the community is heard throughout the process.
He added that a collective approach is the best manner to develop the small islands and the local area.
