Multiple Sclerosis Donegal Branch and Donegal Horizons CLG are the chosen charities for the 2025 North West 10k.

The event has now entered its final weeks of fundraising ahead of the big race and walk taking place on Monday, May 5, in Letterkenny.

Now in its 28th year, the 10k Committee has unveiled a vibrant new orange t-shirt for this year’s event. Organisers are hopeful that 2025 will be the year the total fundraising figure surpasses the €1 million mark.

Among the upcoming fundraisers will also be a Coffee Morning in Maggie’s Tavern, St Johnston on Saturday, April 26 from 11am to 2pm. A Stars in Your Eyes Show takes place in the Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny on Thursday, April 24, followed by another Coffee Morning in Kilcar on Thursday, May 18. An ongoing online fundraiser offers a jersey signed by the Donegal Senior GAA Team. Further details are available on the North West 10k Facebook Page.

“All monies raised stay in Donegal to benefit local organisations doing vital work,” said 10k Chairperson Neil Martin. “The North West 10k is not far away now on Monday, May 5. It’s a marvellous community event that has been so well supported down the years. It’s going 27 years and has raised nearly €984,000 for 40 charities. We are in sight of the €1 million mark, and it would be really special to reach it this year.”

Mr Martin is urging runners, walkers, and families to register online and avoid queues on race day. He added: “This is a chance for the people of Donegal to come out and support two very worthy causes. Runners, walkers and families have the chance to be part of history on that day.”placeholder image
