A Yellow Wind Warning has been issued for Donegal as Met Éireann forecasts very strong and gusty southwesterly winds across the county.

The warning comes into effect at midnight on Tuesday, October 27, and remains in place until midday. Donegal and Mayo are both included in the weather alert.

Met Éireann is warning of a number of potential impacts, with strong winds expected to make conditions difficult in exposed areas. Debris and loose objects could be displaced, while motorists and cyclists may face challenging travel conditions, particularly during periods of stronger gusts.

Coastal areas are also expected to experience large waves, with the conditions potentially making exposed shorelines hazardous. There is also a risk of fallen trees and branches as the strong winds move across the county.

People in Donegal are being advised to take care overnight and during Tuesday morning, particularly when travelling or visiting exposed coastal areas. Motorists and cyclists should be prepared for difficult conditions, while property owners may wish to secure loose items ahead of the warning coming into effect.

The warning is currently due to expire at 12pm on Tuesday, although residents are advised to keep up to date with the latest forecasts and any further updates from Met Éireann.
