PCC made a heartfelt gesture to the Cassie Sheridan fund this week, raising €2,325 for their neighbour.

The Falcarragh-based school held a non-uniform day on Thursday and then on Friday, had a music group performing on the town's main street for the Fundraiser for Cassie.

Cassie, a sixth-class pupil at Creeslough's Scoil Mhuire, was diagnosed with anaplastic large cell lymphoma in 2022 at the age of 10. This is a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which develops when white blood cells called T-cells become abnormal, therefore cancerous.

The next stage of her treatment involves travelling to the Princess Maxima Centre in Utrecht, Netherlands, to undergo a bone marrow transplant, with her older brother Michael as her donor. The surgery will then require six months of medical care and recovery in the Netherlands.placeholder image

Following a hugely successful fundraiser by St Michael’s GAA club, Molly’s Bar in Dunfanaghy supported Cassie with a darts competition on Friday night - organised by Sam Hegarty - which raised €3,100, while An Chistin are selling lines for a hamper, with the Creeslough Community Hub also running a raffle.

"We are delighted to announce that PCC raised €2,325 for Cassie Sheridan this week," PCC posted. "We would like to thank our students, parents, staff and local community who all gave so generously for Cassie's Appeal. We wish her and her family the best."
