Donegal County Council has approved planning permission for the continued use of a youth and family resource centre in Derrybeg.

The listed applicants, David and Veronica Cribbin, of Letterkenny Properties Ltd, successfully obtained permission to change the use of the ground floor of an existing building, known as the HMD Building, for a youth and family resource centre.

An organisation known as LYFS (Local Youth & Family Service) operates from the premises and offers services to young people and their families who are in need of support through various programmes relating to health, wellbeing, education, and employment.

Donegal County Council granted planning permission with two conditions, including that signage should either be in the Irish language only, or be first and shall be of an area, size and prominence that is greater than the area, size and prominence of other languages.

A previously granted permission had been granted to the same applicants, which saw plans for four retail units instead of a youth and family resource centre.

Planning permission had been granted for retail units at the site in September 2024.
