Planning permission has been granted by Donegal County Council for a new childcare facility near Kilmacrennan.
The new facility would be located in the Gortnaskeagh townland near Kilmacrennan, and would cater for a maximum of 12 pre-school children and two members of staff.
Listed applicant, Kellie Peoples, applied for the change of use of an existing domestic shed to a childcare facility within the curtilage of a private dwelling house, and the provision of an external play area.
Kieran Gallagher, the agent for the permitted application, wrote: “The application seeks to provide a childcare facility to help cater for the growing need for childcare in the area.
“The applicant currently offers a very limited ‘babysitting’ service, but the demand has outgrown this in recent times.”
Donegal County Council granted the application planning permission with 12 conditions, including confining opening hours from 8am until 6pm during weekdays, planting at least 10 semi-mature broadleaf trees on site, along with planting a hedgerow as a site boundary, and installing a secondary packaged wastewater treatment system/
A further condition was made that the application should contribute a payment of €475.15 in respect of public infrastructure and facilities benefiting development in the area of the Planning Authority that is already provided or is intended to be provided by the Authority.
