Meadowfield Development Ltd seek to extend Flax Field estate

A planning application has been submitted to Donegal County Council for the building of 32 properties at a residential estate in Convoy.

Meadowfield Development Ltd submitted the application, which is to be located at Flax Fields, in the Kiltole townland of Convoy.

The development applied for comprises the construction of 32 dwelling units, comprising six two-bedroom terraced dwellings, eight two-bedroom semi-detached dwellings, eight three-bedroom semi-detached dwellings, one three-bedroom detached dwelling, one four-bedroom detached dwelling, eight two-bedroom apartments, and all associated site works as part of the existing housing estate.

Morgan Architects, architects for the project, said the proposals aimed “to deliver high-quality homes and sustainable communities.”

Furthermore, Morgan Architects said the variety of properties proposed in the development would lead to “a varying range of occupancy profiles where diversity and integration will be encouraged by way of quality public spaces and good links with the local community and amenities.”

The planning application is an extension of previous construction and applications at the site at Flax Fields, which first received planning permission from Donegal County Council in 2003, for 94 homes to be built. Moreover, in 2006, permission was granted for the construction of a childcare facility, extra parking, and an external play area.

Donegal County Council has yet to announce a decision due date for the proposals.
