Development proposed to be located between N56 and Ard Na Glaise

Donegal County Council has received a planning application for the construction of a 42-unit housing development in Kilmacrennan.

Michael Kelly, the listed applicant, has submitted an application for the construction of the development bordering Ard Na Glaise and the N56 in Kilmacrennan, consisting of two-bed, three-bed and four-bed houses, and 26 apartments with four two-bed duplexes, four three-bed duplexes, and 18 two-bed apartments in two and three-storey blocks, along with ancillary open space, associated site works and connection to all public services.

O’Connor Burke Architecture, within the design statement supporting the application, said: “The proposed housing scheme is a contemporary interpretation of the characteristic principles, translating both cottage and farmhouse vernacular into a cohesive, site-responsive layout strategy.”

They concluded: “Overall, the site-specific design solutions successfully distil the key attributes of cottage and farmhouse vernacular - form, proportion, materiality, and incremental composition - into a contemporary residential layout that responds both to context and modern housing requirements.”

Donegal County Council has set a decision due date for the submitted application for June 24.
