Royal and Prior students visit Fleming Engineering
Royal and Prior School students paid a visit to St. Johnston’s Fleming Engineering base
Students from The Royal and Prior Comprehensive School in Raphoe got a behind-the-scenes look at Fleming Engineering’s base in St Johnston as part of the GEMX MakeME programme.
The educational programme partners companies with local schools to create real-world opportunities for young people to develop confidence and help them make informed decisions about their future.
For Fleming Engineering, part of the FNW Group, it provided an opportunity to connect with the next generation of workers and build relationships with the schools developing that talent.
During the visit, students gained unique insights into how Fleming Engineering operates. They spent time with key production and operations staff, getting hands-on experience, learning about their roles and asking questions.
Andrew Fleming, Chief Executive of the FNW Group, said: “This is a brilliant initiative that has given us the chance to engage with the workforce of the future and showcase the opportunities we have to offer. It’s also a great chance for our staff to inspire interest among the next generation.
“The pupils bring a fresh perspective, and the programme gives us a unique opportunity to mentor and inspire them to be the best they can be, while showing them a clear pathway to a career within our industry.”
