Save the date in your calendars – The Girls are coming to Buncrana this winter!

‘We sincerely hope that the tremendous efforts of this exceptional cast and crew will do the story proud’ - Director Henderson
Highly-acclaimed theatre company, Greasepaint Productions held the first rehearsals earlier this week for its recently announced production of ‘Calendar Girls - The Musical’, coming this November.
A well-established leading musical theatre company in Inishowen, with no less than fourteen productions and an AIMS award under their belt, team members are now embarking on what they consider to be their most emotionally-charged production to date.
It is over twenty years since the original film was released and almost ten years since ‘The Girls’, as it was originally called, first opened in the Westend, London.
The production team has already been working diligently since April, to ensure that every aspect of the upcoming performances will be authentic, honest and sensitive to the true story.
Director Donall Henderson explained that from the very first time he saw the show when it premiered in London, he decided that the true story of these remarkable women, brought to life with music written by Gary Barlow, needed to be shared with local audiences.
Speaking about the production Donall said: “I believe that Calendar Girls depicts the day-to-day challenges that life throws at these Yorkshire women, only to be overcome by the incredible support from their local community. The message of unity and resilience in the face of adversity is as strong today as it was then.”
He added, “We have an innate desire to tell this story with genuine human emotion, humility, empathy and understanding. We sincerely hope that the tremendous efforts of this exceptional cast and crew will do the story proud and that it will touch hearts in whatever way it is meant to do. You might laugh, you might cry, you will probably do both.”

This year, a percentage of total ticket sales will be shared between Donegal Hospice and Foyle Hospice, two charitable organisations making a huge difference across the local community.
Calendar Girls - The Musical will also see the return of a live band, with a big brass sound, which will undoubtedly enhance the overall performance.
Noel Thompson returns as Musical Director, alongside resident Vocal Coach Louise Crossan. Caitriona Bradley continues at the helm as Creative Director, with Caroline Doherty as Wardrobe Supervisor and choreography shared between Diarmaid O’Meara and Laura Adam. Front of House will be managed by Elaine Grant.
Calendar Girls - The Musical will be performed at St Mary’s Hall, Buncrana from Tuesday 18th November until Saturday 22nd November 2025.
Tickets for all performances are €20 each with a limited number of free wheelchair accessible spaces available.
Tickets for the opening performance are now available online and tickets for all other performances will be available from Friday 1st August 2025 at 10am.
