'Marc will be so badly missed on so many different levels'

There's a huge sense of shock and sadness at the news of the sudden and unexpected passing of a well-known Bundoran man, Marc Geagan

Marc has been described as a true Renaissance man, a writer, guitar player, composer, bass player, producer, record label owner, lecturer, historian, and more, much more.

Tributes have been coming in from fellow musicians and friends who are still coming to terms with the shock news.

"He was a wonderful facilitator and a catalyst who put together so many musicians, shows, gigs, songwriting sessions and recording sessions. All of this and a gentle, humble, witty and warm soul, " said Michael Christie from the Ballyshannon based group, The Kings of Cool.

Bundoran Community Development CLG also paid tribute to their friend.

“We are absolutely heartbroken on hearing of the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Marc Geagan. As a friend to all who knew him, Marc will be so badly missed on so many different levels. Marc was central to Bundoran's world of music, culture, history and last but not least, the community in general. He was a huge part of our centre and was at the core of so many events run here in the past and to come.

"The whole community of Bundoran will feel his loss. Our hearts and prayers go out to his wife Michelle, his children David, Zoe, Aoife and all his family and friends. The world will not be the same without you Marc, Rest In Peace"

His friend, Kram Boyle also lauded his talent describing him as a true Donegal man.

"The tragic loss of Marc Geagan has shaken me! A savage performer and player! A genuine sound man whom I had the honour of being mentored for three years in the NWRC. Had a bump into him along most of my journeys home on the busses and we would chat for a solid hour until either had to get off! His knowledge of music and his skill in in the industry will be a horrible loss! A true Donegal man."

Another friend Richie Fitzgerald also summed up the feelings of everyone who knew Marc

"Heartbroken is how I and everyone else in town have been over the last two days with the sudden passing of Marc Geagan. He was a loving father, husband, brother, son, a gifted historian and intellectual, musician, author, keeper and chronicler of local history, fiercely local to the area but to me, he was a good friend, a classmate from school, mentor in writing and always a gentleman. I will miss our conversations and catch-ups. I always came away feeling smarter after a chat with Marc."

Marc will be sadly missed and forever loved by his heartbroken family, his wife Michelle, son David, daughters Zoe and Aoife, his father Colin and partner Elaine, sister Gina and husband Mark (Witherow), brother Paul, mother-in-law Aileen (Corcoran), brother-in-law Alan (Corcoran), his nieces and nephews Alannah, Anna, Cillian and Ethane, aunts, uncles, and all his many cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends especially in the Music Circle. Predeceased by his mother Pat, brother David, niece Zara and father-in-law Michael.
