A proposal has been made for a temporary measure to deal with ongoing safety concerns at Buncrana’s Mill Bridge. The bridge has been the subject of safety concerns in recent years and has been the scene of several near misses involving pedestrians.

Buncrana councillor Fionán Bradley welcomed the proposal for a temporary solution following the recent meeting of the Inishowen Municipal District  and discussions with engineers and council officials for several months.

The Fianna Fáil councillor said the proposal  is a temporary yield line / give way arrangement which will allow for the reassignment of the carriageway and footpath widening in the near future.

“This is by no means a permanent solution and I will continue to raise the issue and to work on behalf of the residents of the Gransha, Trillick, Ardaravan and surrounding areas until such time as funding can be secured for the construction of a permanent footbridge or until this section of the inner relief road is funded and completed.”
