Watch: Amazing! Two sets of sextuplet lambs born on same Ballintra farm
Farmer Peter McGee has his hands full with 12 healthy lambs from two ewes - as well as his other animals
The birth of healthy sextuplets in sheep is considered extremely rare. But a Ballintra farmer has two such sets on his farm this spring, and he has his hands full, helping out the ewes by hand-feeding half of the two broods.
He told Donegal Live: “I delivered all these lambs myself. They were fed every two hours for three or four days.
“They are all doing fine. I want to really thank the scanner who detected that there were six lambs in each ewe.”
As well as tending to the other sheep and lambs on his farm, Peter is feeding six of the 12 sextuplets, with the respective mother ewes feeding the other six.
