Donegal County Council granted planning permission for an expansion into a disused commercial premises next door.

A major extension has been given the go-ahead at Briney’s Bar in Clonmany.

Donegal County Council granted planning permission for an expansion into a disused commercial premises next door.

The applicant Martin Harkin had applied to Donegal County Council to turn the adjacent retail unit, formerly Catriona’s Newsagents, into a new lounge area at the bar on Clonmany’s Main Street.

The planning authority attached eight conditions when granting permission for the public house in the village. These included that the opening hours of the extension should be in line with the existing business hours unless otherwise agreed with by the Planning Authority.

Several of the conditions attached relate to the environment, including that any bulk fuel storage tank should be properly bunded with a bund capacity of at least 110%. This is done for the containment of any potential leaks or spills, preventing environmental contamination.

Also, all waste associated with the development is to be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner and off-site at an authorised/licensed facility.
