Cloughaneely were last year's Donegal IFC winners having lost their previous two finals and they leave behind a competition so fierce few can be confident of picking a winner. Here's the hopefuls

Naomh Muire Manager: Danny O’Donnell Last year championship: IFC quarter-final place, where they lost to Dungloe. This year's AFCL: Third in Division 3 (won play-off with Na Rossa to get promotion).First two opponents: Malin home; Termon away.Prospects: Danny O’Donnell knows what it takes at championship level but this will be a difficult campaign for the Naomh Muire man. They need to get off to a good start against Malin and are always a tough opponent at the Banks. If they make the quarter-finals they will be in bonus territory. Star man: Harry Harden

Naomh BridManager: Aidan MurrayLast year championship: Lost to Naomh Columba in IFC quarter-finalThis year's ACFL: Second in Division 3 and promotedFirst two opponents: Naomh Columba home; Red Hugh's awayProspects: Under new manager, Aidan Murray, Naomh Brid were consistent without setting the world on fire. Have a very difficult opening game against Naomh Columba. Making the quarter-finals will be the aim but they face some really tough opponents.Star man: Callum Gallagher

BurtManager: Ciaran DowdsLast year championship: Ended up saving themselves in the IFC by beating St Mary’s Convoy in the relegation semi-finalsThis year's ACFL: Won Division 3.First two opponents: Dungloe home; Malin awayProspects: It has been a good year for Ciaran Dowds and his Burt team, very consistent in Division 3 and winning the final against Naomh Brid. The championship presents an even tougher test as they have to meet many of the big guns with Dungloe and Malin for starters. Like a number of teams, getting to the quarter-finals would represent success.Star man: Sean McHugh

DungloeManager: Dessie Gallagher Last year championship: IFC finalists, defeated in a replay by Cloughaneely This year's AFCL: Eighth in Division 2.First two opponents: Burt away; Gaeil Fhánada home Prospects: It has been a mixed bag so far this season for Dungloe in the league, never really in contention for promotion. That is disappointing given their championship run last year which was impressive. Can they replicate their form of last year? If they can then they will be in the mix once again, but they need to step up.Star man: Barry Curran
