Carndonagh man Evan Tweed scored the winner for Institute on Saturday in the NIFL Championship.
Tweed scored late in the first half as ‘Stute defeated Portadown 1-0 at the Brandywell.
The 24-year-old latched onto a cross from Convoy’s Michael Harris and curled past Aaron Hogg. The goal, which was Tweed’s second of the season, proved the only of the game.
Fiona McClure also started the game for Kevin Deery’s Institute, who saw Mark Mbuli and Bradley Callaghan come off the bench.
Donegal men Shane O’Gara, Jack Parke, Keith Cowan, Gareth Harkin and Shane McMonagle all started for Dergview, but they lost out 3-0 against Ards at Darragh Park.
In the NIFL Premiership, Kieran Farren punched in the full 90 minutes for Coleraine in a 2-0 win over Crusaders. Conor McKendy bagged both goals at Seaview.
Oran Brogan came off the bench for the last ten minutes of Loughgall’s 5-2 win over Ballymena at Lakeview while Ronan Doherty played the full game as Cliftonville were beaten 2-1 by Larne at Inver Park.
