Words by the Water event at Greencastle Community Centre was hosted by Greencastle Writers Group

Extra chairs were needed at the packed Words by the Water event at Greencastle Community Centre.

There was an added buzz of excitement at the recent literary evening, with local writers and poets reading their own work to the gathered audience, many for the first time.

“Greencastle Writers Group set up these events three years ago,” explained organiser David Simpson. “We had the largest number of submissions this time, even one from a poet in Germany who had seen news of it on the Internet.”

The response to the evening was very positive, with audience members requesting more literary events.

The Words by the Water event, the fourth so far, also supported local artists. The hall benefitted from artwork by Tanya McColgan adorning the walls, while there was a beautiful floral display by ‘Flower Power’ based in Redcastle.

“We’d like to thank the manager and staff of Greencastle Community Centre for their continual support and help,” added Moville author Sharon Thompson. “We feel very at home here.”
