Tonight could be the coldest night of the year

Temperatures continue to plummet across the county
A Status Yellow Low Temperature/Ice warning remains in place until midday on Friday with temperatures expected to rise in the county on Sunday, according to the latest reports from Met Éireann.
The county has experienced freezing temperatures over the last number of days. Temperatures plummeted to minus 4 in Ballyshannon on Tuesday night ranking it among the coldest places in Ireland.
However, temperatures are forecast to dip even further tonight, according to meteorologist Joanna Donnelly who speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland forecast a widespread low temperature of -7C nationally and warned temperatures could drop to -11C in places.
She said: “Temperatures this morning aren't likely to rise above freezing for much of the country, for much of the morning. It'll be afternoon before temperatures creep above the zero mark, and they're going to fall pretty quickly ... down again to -4C, so it’s a really, really, bitterly cold day out there today."
Roads are continuing to be gritted by Donegal County Council and people are being asked to drive with caution and care.
Temperatures on Thursday will remain below freezing in the morning and showers and sleet are expected. The national outlook from Met Éireann says snow is expected to fall in parts of Ulster on Thursday night while other places are expected to remain dry.
Temperatures are set to pick up on Sunday and temperatures are expected to reach 10 degrees.
