Artessa - Leitrim coffee that connects people

The founder of our local coffee roastery Artessa and Café Lounge – Georgia S Visnyei - is from Hungary, who moved to Carrick-on-Shannon nearly 20 years ago. Growing up in central Europe where traditional coffee cultures have been blending from centuries gave Georgia a natural understanding of what makes a truly great cup of coffee.

Although being a coffee lover from a very young age, she didn’t start in coffee straight away, she got trained and worked as an architect first. It was in 2009 when she set up her business and started to roast coffee in her kitchen.

Fast forward 14 years and the small coffee roaster is growing into an international business.

Artessa is a member of the World Trade Centre, supplying coffee lovers and businesses nationwide, to a few EU countries and recently has sent the first samples to China after taking part of an international exhibition.

Georgia’s passion for coffee is fuelling the success of her business. Of course caffeine helps being able to put in the enormous work needed to run and expand the business, but the most joy comes from the fact that coffee has a way of bringing people together.

She’s been working with people from all over the world, but her heart is firmly in the amazing West coast of Ireland, and of course with all the fantastic local customers in our café in Carrick-on-Shannon, Café Lounge.
