Cllr Ita Reynolds-Flynn tabled a motion requesting that funding be considered for the construction of a footbridge at the bridge in Ballinamore.

As part of the Scoil Bríd Naofa Safe Routes to School programme, the junction and bridge in Ballinamore will be assessed for pedestrian safety.

Cllr Ita Reynolds-Flynn tabled a motion requesting that funding be considered for the construction of a footbridge at the bridge in Ballinamore.

Currently, there is no footpath along one side of the bridge leading to the Island Theatre.

In response, the Roads department stated that it will be examined and the Council’s Active Travel department is awaiting a delivery plan from An Taisce before options can be considered.

Cllr Reynolds-Flynn also sought updates on roads L1574-3 and L1574-2, inquiring whether they could be considered for improvement works.

Additionally, she requested a status update on L1616 which is to be included in a Community Involvement Scheme (CIS).

However, roads L1574-3 and L1574-2 are not included in the current three year roadworks plan approved by elected members last October. The roads require a Restoration Improvement Grant and are unlikely to be addressed for another three years.

Meanwhile, the L1616 is ranked number 24 on the CIS list, with no confirmed timeline for completion.

Five roads within the Ballinamore Municipal District are scheduled to be addressed under the CIS this year.
