Caution advised on roads today following snowfall in Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon and Cavan

Motorists are advised to slow down and allow extra time for traveling today following snowfall last night and this morning.

You should also ensure your vehicle is completely clear of snow (including the lights and roof) before driving off.  Snow left on the roof of a vehicle can slide down on the windscreen obscuring driving when you are on the road, posing a danger to you and other motorists.

While the majority of the national roads are treated, snow and ice can cause slippery conditions on secondary roads so please slow down and allow extra space between your vehicle and others.
