The Leitrim Folk Listeners Club will round off the year with an evening of live music, featuring a talented line-up and a draw for CDs from local performers.

The final Leitrim Folk Listeners Club session of the year takes place this weekend, promising a special evening of music featuring Christy K Delaney and Fergus McGovern, accompanied by the fantastic musicians Niko and Christina Ginter.

The event will take place on Saturday, October 24, at The Leitrim Inn and Blueway Lodge. There will be no cover charge, with the evening sponsored by Adeline and Karen from the Leitrim Inn. There will also be a draw for CDs from the Carolan Collective musicians who have performed at the Club throughout the year.

This will be the last session before the Club resumes in the New Year.

The Leitrim Folk Listeners Club is delighted to welcome veteran singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist KittC Delaney to the intimate stage at The Leitrim Inn and Blueway Lodge.

Believing wholeheartedly that “all music is folk music,” Delaney brings a lifetime of world-class musicianship, rich storytelling and international touring experience to Leitrim’s premier acoustic listening room.

Delaney’s career began in the heart of Dublin’s legendary folk revival, where he cut his teeth in iconic venues such as The Baggot Inn, O’Donoghue’s and Mother Redcaps.

In the 1970s, he became an essential voice in Germany’s booming folk club circuit and West Berlin’s vibrant nightlife. He even took to the stage at Bochum’s famed Schauspielhaus in Brendan Behan’s ‘The Hostage,’ alongside director Peter Zadek and understudy Herbert Grönemeyer.

Also performing on the night is Fergus McGovern, who stands out for his collaborative spirit and emotive, genre-blending vision. This creative drive is particularly evident in his work with Atmospheric Road and their acclaimed release, ‘From the Stillwater Sessions.’

As vocalist, songwriter and executive producer, McGovern brought together a powerhouse cast of musicians and producers including, Wayne Sheehy, JJ Quinlan, McClune and Frank Kearns, to create a soundscape that effortlessly bridges contemporary folk-rock, pop and blues-infused storytelling.

Niko and Christina Ginter have established a reputation as dynamic performers and dedicated educators, with work spanning traditional Irish music, educational outreach and innovative performance art, including puppet theatre and interactive music workshops.

As active contributors to The Carolan Collective, their work encompasses interactive community workshops, festival and regional showcases, and the celebration of living heritage.
