Leitrim County Council and Leitrim Sports Partnership has been awarded €13,000 at Cleighran More Pier, Ballinaglera for the development of new changing facilities and a covered seated area. The Minister for Health, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill has informed local FG Cllr, Enda McGloin of the allocation which will drastically improve facilities for swimmers all year round. €330,000 was the total allocation among 17 projects countrywide that were funded.

“Cleighranmore is a fantastic facility developed some years ago by Waterways Ireland, this €13,000 is badly needed to provide the necessary changing facilities especially during the summer months when the facility hosts swimming lessons for children. “I would love to see this beautiful location further develop as a swimming amenity in the years ahead, I would like to acknowledge a number of the local parents who highlighted the need for these upgrades and to Leitrim Sports Partnership in their roll in putting forward the application to Healthy Ireland”, said Cllr McGloin.
