The centre, a charity and social enterprise, works to increase knowledge and awareness about organic growing, biodiversity, climate change, and food sovereignty as well as sustainable energy, and has been in operation since 1995.
The President had the opportunity to tour the 19-acre site led by General Manager Stephen Campbell and Chairman Brian Smyth.
She met many of its staff, volunteers, and service users. She also got a flavour of some the activities organised there on her journey, including meeting children from Green Shoots Parents and toddler group, a delegation from the centres' Community Garden' and was delighted to spend time with students and lecturer Phil Wheal from the MSLETB Organic Horticulture course, who were busy seed sowing and pulling carrots.
