Gardaí return to North Leitrim barracks after 13 years with community clinic

A new Garda community clinic will be held in Dromahair Garda barracks on the second Wednesday of every month from 2pm to 4pm.
A new Garda community clinic is now operating once a month from the former Garda barracks in Dromahair, marking the return of Gardaí to the village for the first time in 13 years.
The clinic is held on the second Wednesday of every month from 2pm to 4pm, with the first clinic having taken place on January 13.
In a post on Facebook, An Garda Síochána Sligo/Leitrim said: “Gardai are delighted to return to the old Garda Barracks in Dromahair for the first time since it closed in 2013. Our monthly clinics will now be held there on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, between 2pm and 4pm.
“The local community and committee must be congratulated on the fantastic renovation of this historic building. The first Clinic takes place on the 14th of January. We look forward to meeting the Community and helping with any Garda matters.”
The Dromahair barracks received €426,590 in funding under the Town and Village and Community Recognition Funds, with its official opening taking place in September 2025.
The Barracks Project aims to promote the regeneration of Dromahair through the complete refurbishment of the once-derelict and disused building.
The works not only restored the structure to its former glory but also provided the community of Dromahair and the wider hinterland with a valuable community facility that will serve the needs and aspirations of a growing and diverse population for many years to come.
Vacant for more than a decade, the barracks has undergone a transformative redevelopment led by the Dromahair Development Association/Tidy Towns, preserving its historic architecture while successfully adapting the building for modern community use.
