Gary Prior thankful that the hard work paid off

Newly elected councillor looks forward to the next five years on Leitrim County Council
Gary Prior, first time candidate for Fianna Fail in the Ballinamore LEA described it as a proud moment for himself and his family and his community and the marvellous team that he had around him for the last 8 - 9 weeks.
“We did a huge canvass and to get the fourth seat in the end is fantastic. It just shows you to get the numbers out on that ballot paper. I was getting sixes there off Sean Wynne that were as good as a one to me,” he said.
“It was a long few days and weeks but you have to put the work in and thankfully it paid off.
He said the housing issue “is right up there, we're hearing it at nearly every second door. We need to identify properties and see can we bring more life into our towns and rural areas, planning issue are there and we will deal with them and work hard on them.”
Looking ahead, he said, “I'm absolutely thrilled and relieved now that I can start planning for my work on the council over the next five years because you have to get over the line as a first time councillor out, it's difficult, some don't make it and I'm lucky enough this time I did make it and I'm delighted to get the fourth seat in the end.”
