Glencar Manorhamilton's second half goal blitz sees off Annaduff

GLENCAR MANORHAMILTON 5-8 ANNADUFF 1-12
Four second half goals by home side Glencar Manorhamilton killed off a spirited Annaduff challenge in this U20 Division 2 Final played in Boggaun last Sunday.
It was a nip and tuck affair in the first half with Annaduff getting off to a strong start through their sharp shooter Darren Cox who had three points to his name in as many minutes, two of those coming from play.
Glencar-Manor opened their account in the fifth minute through a Jack Faulkner point from play and the same player added another from a free. Cian McManus then popped over a free and a Nathan McMorrow point from play had the home side in front for the first time.
In an even contest, Annaduff tied up the score again through Eoghan Ridge but the first decisive score of the game came for the home side in the 23rd minute when Matthew Connolly goaled to put his side in front.
Connolly then kicked another point to open up a four point gap but back came Annaduff with points from Darren Cox from a free and captain Jack Hughes from play.
The last word of the first half fell to Glencar-Manor's Jack Faulkner who landed a free to leave his side three points to the good at half time, 1-6 to 0-6.
The same tit for tat scoring continued in the early minutes of the second half with Darren Cox from a free and Liam McNamee from play landing two welcome points for the visitors.
Cian McManus kept two points between the sides with a free in the 35th minute but just four minutes later Annaduff got themselves right back into the game when McNamee fired to the net to give them a one point lead.
However, Glencar-Manor struck back almost immediately and were awarded a penalty in the 41st minute and Cathal Óg O'Connell made no mistake from the spot.

However, the game then swung dramatically for the home side in a three minute spell with captain Darren Gilmartin finding the net, Barry McNulty notching a point from play and then Cian McManus hitting another goal to leave Glencar-Manorhamilton with a commanding 4-8 to 1-10 lead.
Darren Cox kicked his seventh point of the day to narrow the gap back to six points, however in the 58th minute Glencar-Manor put the contest well and truly to bed with a goal from Barry McNulty.
Deep into injury time Tommie Taylor scored a point for Annaduff but ultimately they had been undone by the concession of four second half goals and captain Darren Gilmartin lifted the Division 2 Cup to the delight of his team mates and the Glencar Manorhamilton supporters.
