Gallagher shares gratitude towards Leitrim voters following recent local election

Bláithín Gallagher, Chair of the North West Green Party, extends heartfelt gratitude to the voters and supporters following the recent local election. Despite not achieving the desired outcome, Bláithín is grateful for the hard work, dedication, and belief shown by supporters.

“I want to extend my gratitude to those who supported me and my fellow Green Party candidates during this campaign. I am deeply appreciative of the hard work and dedication of those who supported us.

"I am especially grateful to those who voted for me, to those who shared their stories on the doorsteps and to those who respectfully told me why they would or could not vote for me. Your voices and experiences enriched the campaign.”

Bláithin went on to say: “Congratulations to all the winning candidates. Well done on your successful campaigns. Although we at North West Green Party didn't achieve the outcome we hoped for, I am heartened to see that there will be councillors in place who share our commitment to protecting the environment and preserving biodiversity.

"This is a crucial victory for our community and our planet. So a special mention to the new councillors, James Gilmartin and Eddie Mitchell.

“I also want to express my respect and thanks to everyone who ran in this election, in particular our youngest candidate Adam Ó Ceallaigh. I can testify that it is not easy to put yourself forward and campaigning is really hard work."

Gallagher continued: "This certainly was not a successful result for me but I have no regrets about putting myself forward. We are fortunate to live in a democracy where every individual has the opportunity to step forward and serve their community.

"I wish our new county councillors every success over the next five years, in working together to improve our community and fulfill their promises. I hope they pursue a socially just agenda that advances the quality of life for all living here.”

Bláithín Gallagher concluded by saying: “I will continue my work through activism in the community and look forward to helping people in this way in the years ahead. Let’s continue to work together for abetter, greener socially just future. Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir.”
