Cllr Paddy Farrell was advised that the location would not be deemed a safe location for the installation of a footpath.

A Leitrim councillor said he is getting calls "several times a week" about a section of road and asked that the council seek a suitable funding stream to provide a footpath on the "dangerous but short piece of roadway from the road in to Loch 14 up to the L-7402 up to Sheemore, as a matter of safety".

Cllr Paddy Farrell was advised that the location would not be deemed a safe location for the installation of a footpath.

He stressed: "This is the main highway to the North and you have enormous speed on that road."

Cllr Cormac Flynn said that he has walked the road once with the children and "I said, 'that's it; I'm never doing that again. It's only 300m and even if some kind of separation could be installed between the roadway and people that are walking. We don't want to hear of someone getting badly hurt or worse."
