Leitrim people urged to check eligibility as national broadband rollout continues

Leitrim residents urged to check if they can avail of new fibre broadband under national plan
Around 11,000 premises in Leitrim can now avail of a high-speed fibre broadband connection after new connections were laid.
The works, carried out under the National Broadband Plan (NBP), aim to provide broadband connections to rural areas across Ireland.
In the county, 12,000 premises are included under the scheme, delivering minimum speeds of 500 megabits per second to homes, businesses, farms, and schools.
So far, work has been completed in most rural areas and townlands across the county, including those near Kinlough, Ballinamore, Carrigallen, and Drumreilly, according to National Broadband Ireland who are carrying out the works on behalf of the Government.
Leitrim will receive around €46m in investment under the NBP, according to Government figures.
There are now 11,144 premises that can pre-order or order high-speed broadband across Leitrim, with 3,306 connections made to date.
National Broadband Ireland, the company carrying out the works, has encouraged all Leitrim residents to visit nbi.ie and check their Eircode to see if they’re ready to connect and find out more about placing an order.
The Intervention Area currently includes 12,000 premises in Leitrim, which will see NBI deliver minimum speeds of 500 megabits per second to homes, businesses, farms, and schools in areas where commercial internet providers do not have plans to carry out works.
“As we enter the final year of the National Broadband Plan rollout, we’re encouraging everyone in Leitrim to check their Eircode on nbi.ie and order now to secure high-speed fibre broadband for their home or business,” said TJ Malone, Chief Executive Officer, National Broadband Ireland.
Nationally, the NBP includes 475,000 homes, farms and businesses in rural Ireland to high-speed broadband, with over 174,000 now connected.
