Leitrim Pride brings community events, march, and festivities to the county

From wildflower walks to the Pride March and a post-event celebration, Leitrim Pride Week promises fun for all from August 25 to 31.
Leitrim Pride has kicked off this week, running from Monday, August 25, until Sunday, August 31.
Celebrations began with the raising of the Pride flag at Áras an Chontae, Carrick-on-Shannon, where Cathaoirleach Cllr Paddy Farrell raised the flag to mark the opening ceremony of the Leitrim Pride celebrations.
Throughout the week, a number of events are planned.
On Wednesday, August 27, there was a wildflower identification walk starting from the Bee Park in Manorhamilton, followed by a talk and picnic at Manorhamilton’s Historic Star Fort. Aífe Kearns lent her expertise in wildflower identification and local biodiversity.
On Thursday, August 28, Leitrim Pride’s annual information day will be held in the Market Yard in Carrick-on-Shannon from 12pm to 2pm.
People can pop by to donate to Pride or gather information on any of the week’s events.
The main event, the Leitrim Pride March, will take place on Saturday, August 30, gathering at Scoil Mhuire at 1pm.
The march starts at 2pm and ends at Town Park at 2:30pm.
Tully Crafts Tully Truck will be there selling queer merchandise. Later that day, a post-march party will begin at 4pm at The Bush Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon, with Nostalgia and DJ Ace performing until 9pm.
A private cabaret-style function room at the Bush Hotel will be booked exclusively for Pride attendees, with entry free of charge.
The week comes to a close on Sunday, August 31, with a post-Pride breakfast at The Olive Tree in Carrick-on-Shannon from 11am to 4pm.
“We've put a lot of work in to bring you a full schedule this year! We hope to see you all there,” said a Leitrim Pride spokesperson on Facebook.
