Leitrim-based TD, Martin Kenny is planning on moving from his native Aughavas to the Carrick-on-Shannon area following a number of incidents targeting his family home.

The Sinn Féin deputy said that the move is "in no way a reflection on the area, this is just a side effect of the business I am in" he told www.leitrimlive.ie.

He said that his family felt they had "no option" but to move because of the trauma caused by the ramming of gates at his property last year and an earlier incident in 2019 where a vehicle was burned outside of his home.

"After the first incident we thought this was a one-off, but when a vehicle was driven through the gates last year my wife was at home alone and that was very upsetting. These incidents mean that we no longer have peace of mind in our own home," he admitted.

Aughavas, County Leitrim native, Martin Kenny and his wife Helen and four children are hoping to move to a new home in Carrick-on-Shannon as soon as possible.
