Leitrim's Áirc Damhsa show set for Sligo stage

Becoming Different by Áirc Damhsa premieres this Sunday, March 26 at the Hawk’s Well Theatre Sligo.
Becoming Different is a stunning new production that explores influences and connections in traditional music, song and dance whereby 19 Leitrim youths and adults from Áirc Damhsa take a look at themselves, the challenges they face because of their distinctive traits and the differences they make to each other and the world in which they live.
A celebration of everything that makes us different; the small and not so small things that define us from one person to the next, Becoming Different is directed, choreographed and produced by the 19 dancers with mentoring by Edwina Guckian. They’ll be joined by musicians Cathy Jordan, Ryan Molloy, Stephen Doherty, Martin Brunsden, David Doocey & Fergal Scahill.
Dancer Edwina Guckian is greatly influenced by the style of local music she grew up with across Leitrim and Roscommon and has shared the stage with some of Ireland’s most influential acts such as Altan, De Danann, Dervish, Mairtín O Connor, Frankie Gavin, Kíla, Martin Hayes, Séamus Begley, and Laoise Kelly to name a few. In April 2022, Edwina was awarded the Gradam Comaoine TG4 for her outstanding contribution to culture.
A real treat for dance and music lovers alike, tickets priced at €15/7.50u18s (plus €1 renovation fee) are available now. For enquiries or to book, visit www.hawkswell.com or call 0719161518.
