McGloin humbled by the vote he received

Fine Gael councillor commends 'magnificent community' in Leitrim
Enda McGloin said he was honoured and privileged to be re-elected to Leitrim County Council. “It's a great honour and I'm humbled in many respects by the vote which I didn't expect in terms of numbers. I know Drumshanbo was very warm to me on the canvass and also other places like Ballinaglera, Kiltubrid and Fenagh.
“I could feel there was a little bit of momentum. I know people were pleased with the development of Drumshanbo over the past four years. I felt I worked hard.
“I suppose I am in a bit of a unique position where I work for Frankie Feighan TD and it gives me the opportunity to raise issues from the area I represent and I take those opportunities when I get them,” he said.
“There's a magnificent community in the areas I represent. There's a wonderful Community Council in Drumshanbo people who work with local festivals, tidy towns, who apply themselves in different areas to work for Drumshanbo due to the collective efforts of people.”
Enda said that immigration is an issue locally.
“We have a hotel in Drumshanbo that we would all like to see return to a hotel. I think we need it very badly.
“We have to continue the level of investment in Leitrim to reach out into smaller, more rural areas.
“Planning is another issue; we've got to see more houses built. I don't have the solutions to that but I'd urge the Council to see what they can do and once and for all solve the issue of one off planning and devise a system that will be usable for people that want to build on their own property,” he said.
