Why have you decided to run in the Local Elections?
I am running to give people the choice to vote for something different. I bring new ideas, passion, and energy to the council - qualities that are essential for ensuring the council represents everyone in our county. I am tired of the same old, same old politician who comes to your door once every five years to ask for your vote. Politics needs to empower people to have a say in what happens in their community on an ongoing basis, that's why I want to be your County Councillor.
Why should people vote for you?
Voting for me is voting for the future of Leitrim. I bring an abundance of energy and ideas, and I'm already working for you. I'm advocating for the council to take estates in charge, pushing for the expansion of bus networks, and providing on-the-ground assistance in any way I can.
Currently, many towns lack proper representation, and I promise to change that. My goal is to represent everyone, not just those in my area or demographic. If elected, I will be a full-time public representative, dedicated to hosting a monthly constituency clinic where you can discuss your issues or seek help. On top of this I will continue to knock on doors and meet community groups as I want to bring politics back to the people.
What do you think is lacking in your area and what will you be campaigning for?
I will campaign to make our county prosperous, sustainable, inclusive, and dynamic. Like everyone, I want to live in a thriving community, and I want our communities to remain vibrant well into the future. This means ensuring we don’t lose any more public services.
Due to a lack of investment, towns and villages have started to lose essential services like the post office, full-time Garda presence, banks, and even the last pub. I want to stop this decline. We need to invest in our communities by ensuring proper broadband connectivity and robust public transport.
We must support businesses setting up in town centres and tackle vacancy and dereliction head-on. Together we can do this, but I need your support.
