O’Halloran's, formerly Moore’s and Cummins’ on Summerhill, Carrick-on- Shannon, reopened its doors on Wednesday, April 5.
A shop first opened by Bridie Moore in 1932, her great grandson Mark has now reopened the business after almost 25 years, following its closure in the late 1990s.
Bridie opened the business in 1932, where over the following decades it also became the location from where Mark’s great grandfather James Cummins operated his bus and hackney service.

Mark’s grandmother Elizabeth grew up in the 1940’s and 1950’s, always having an active role in the shop as well. Elizabeth and her husband Michael took over the day to day running of the business in the early 1980s, with Bridie still present in the shop up until her death in 1987.

The new shop will include pick and mix sweets, an ice cream counter and a selection of sweet treats and pastries. There will also be barista coffees, teas and hot chocolates for takeaway.
