Organic Centre to host farming focus group this Saturday

Free workshop to discuss challenges, like the current food security issues or barriers in transitioning to organic.

The free workshop will create a space to discuss challenges, like the current food security issues or barriers in transitioning to organic. Farmers will get a chance to hear about the organic farming scheme from guests, the Organic Trust. The scheme which supports farmers making the change to organic is still taking applications until April 8.
Dervilla Keegan from the Organic Centre says: “As a charity, The Organic Centre has been a pioneer in training in organic growing since 1995 and has built up a lot of expertise over the years. Rates of organic farming are still very low in the country in comparison to other European countries. At the same time, we are learning more than ever that we need to work with nature, get rid of chemicals and protect those habitats that nurture our bees and wildlife we depend on to produce our food. We want to hear from some trailblazing farmers and growers, find out from farmers what can cause difficulties to change to organic, and the issues on the ground for food producers. We look forward to creating avenues to work together now and in the future”
