The Central on Main Street, Manorhamilton could be redeveloped as an café and social space under plans submitted to Leitrim County Council this week.

A planning application has been submitted to Leitrim County Council seeking to revitalise a business on Main Street, Manorhamilton that closed in the 2000s.

The application was submitted on May 12 by Phoebe and Hedda Dick and proposes a change of use for The Central on Main Street, Manorhamilton into an open-plan social space.

The Central previously operated as a hotel, restaurant and nightclub before closing. Under the proposed development, the applicants are seeking permission to change the use of the existing licensed bar to an unlicensed café and open-plan social space.

The proposal would create a flexible community-style space alongside the café, designed to provide an open setting where people can meet and socialise.

The application also seeks permission for the change of use of an existing storage area to a commercial kitchen.

In addition, it includes proposed alterations to the northwest elevation, including the relocation of one window and one door.

The plans further seek full planning permission for the demolition of an existing rear porch. The application also includes provision for a total of eight car parking spaces.

A decision on the application is expected from Leitrim County Council in the coming months.
