St Clare's Comprehensive School Manorhamilton to perform 'Sister Act - The Musical'

St Clare’s Comprehensive School will present ‘Sister Act - The Musical’ at the Bee Park Community Centre, Manorhamilton, on February 24 at 7.30pm.
Where does singing and sanctity meet and prosper? In Sister Act, that’s where! This high energy production brings it all together on one stage; music, slick choreography, chorus singing, a feisty plot, and memorable characters.
With final preparations well in hand, staff and students at St Clare’s Comprehensive School, are putting the final touches to their February production of Sister Act. Under the musical direction of Sarah Keaney and dramatic direction of Aileen Higgins and Danielle Nolan, with choreography by Breda McNulty, this production offers to be a winner, delivering high-octane performances from a talented and dedicated student body.
The action commences when lounge singer, Deloris Van Cartier (Amelie McGrath), sees her mobster boyfriend, Curtis Shank, (Donnacha Maguire) commit murder.
Following this shocking experience, Deloris, as a key witness to the crime, is relocated to protective custody, entering a convent under a witness protection programme.
Seeking to find a purpose in the midst of convent life, Deloris soon finds her own special calling; to take on the ailing convent choir and transform it into something special. Permitted by the Mother Superior (Hannah Smith) to lead this project, Deloris sets about creating her own brand of magic and a singing force to be reckoned with!
With Shank on the hunt for Deloris, she still manages to transform the choir into an entity that goes from strength to strength creating a joyous energy that takes the convent by storm.
As the choir takes on a new life, relationships are forged between Deloris and the sisters. Many challenges and trials face them but goodness finds a way and true friendship and loyalty triumphs in the end.
Deloris learns that the glamour of a performing career under spotlights may not deliver the happiness she seeks and comes to the realisation that, for now, her place is to be with the sisters and helps bring them to the pinnacle of success.
But when threatened by Shank, Deloris is saved by the sisters and the power of true friendship shines brightly.
