Tomas Stefanski, 9 Inistemple, Kinlough, Co Leitrim pleaded guilty to stealing €2,441.90 cash, property of Gerry Murtagh, between August 1 and 2, 2019 at the Courtyard Apartments, Main St, Carrick-on-Shannon.

The court heard the defendant was an employee of Murtagh’s and that all the money has been paid back.

Judge Kilrane said Mr Stefanski was a trusted employee but stole from his employer.

In giving him the benefit of the Probation Act, section 1.1, Judge Kilrane said the offence has now “been nailed to his back” and will prevent him from gaining similar employment.

The defendant had no previous relevant convictions.
