Tree roots blamed for uneven footpaths in Carrick-on-Shannon

The danger posed by uneven footpath surfaces in Carrick-on-Shannon was noted by Cllr Des Guckian at a recent municipal district meeting.
Cllr Guckian noted that “some students at Carrick-on-Shannon Community School have reported that when they are going to and coming back from Tesco, a number of students have tripped on the uneven footpath near the roundabout. They request that this be fixed quite soon.”
A written response from the Roads office acknowledged that tree roots from nearby trees are “causing issues with the footpath surface.
“We will repair these sections on the public section of the footpath,” the written statement noted in conclusion.
Cllr Guckian said that he was happy with the response from the Council.
