Visiting restrictions updated at Sligo University Hospital amid flu pressure

Sligo University Hospital has asked that visits be limited to one adult per patient between 6pm and 8pm as it deals with nearly 30 cases of flu and RSV.
Visiting restrictions have been updated at Sligo University Hospital (SUH) as the hospital continues to deal with significant levels of flu.
The hospital remains under considerable pressure due to high numbers of flu and respiratory illnesses currently circulating.
As of January 21, a total of 27 patients are being treated for the flu virus or RSV. SUH is asking for the cooperation of the public to help limit the spread of these viruses by strictly adhering to the visiting and infection prevention and control measures that have been put in place.
Visiting times will remain in place from 6pm to 8pm; however, changes have been made to the number of people permitted to visit patients.
The hospital is requesting that visits are restricted to one adult per patient. Children and additional visitors are advised not to attend, except in exceptional circumstances. Compassionate exceptions may be considered, but only following prior discussion with the ward manager.
Masks are available at the hospital entrance, and visitors are asked to use hand sanitising gel regularly while on site.
Toilets for visitor use are available on level three, and visitors are requested to avoid using patient toilets or en-suite facilities.
SUH is also urging members of the public not to visit the hospital if they are experiencing any flu-like symptoms.
