Watch: Boyle actor Chris O'Dowd supports Robin Redbreast Day

Today, November 17th is Robin Redbreast Day - according to Redbreast Single Pot Irish Whiskey and they have got Boyle and Hollywood actor Chris O'Dowd involved.

The Robin Redbreast inspired the name of the Redbreast whiskey in 1912. The company created Robin Redbreast Day in 2021 as a way to raise money and awareness for the common bird. So far they have raised nearly €150,000, and the goal is to raise another €100,000 this year.

Nearly half of all global bird species are in decline, and the time to change their fortune is now. Robin Redbreast Day helps support Project Wingman — a joint mission with BirdLife International to keep the common bird common.

Chris O’Dowd is a Robin Redbreast Day ambassador, helping raise much needed funds and awareness for the common bird. "We couldn’t have asked for a better wingman, and his chemistry with Robin is undeniable," the company says.

The day is about ensuring birds like the Chaffinch, Blackbird, Starling, Barn Swallow, Cardinal, Wren and the Blue Tit maintain their “common” bird status. To prevent such birds from becoming endangered, we have to think ahead.

The comapny say every time this quick and quirky video is liked or shared, a 25 cent donation to Project Wingman will be made on behalf of Redbreast.
