There will be highest temperatures of 13 to 19 degrees, warmest in the West and coolest in the East

The weather will be warmest in Leitrim and the West today and coolest in the East, Met Éireann, the Irish National Meteorological Service, has reported.

It will be dry today with variable cloud across the country; cloudy across the eastern half of the country with sunny spells elsewhere.

Some fog will affect northern areas too with highest temperatures of 13 to 19 degrees, warmest in the West and coolest in the East, due to a light to moderate east to northeast breeze feeding in from a relatively cool Irish Sea.

Tonight will remain dry tonight with clearing skies as well as cool with lowest temperatures of 2 to 7 degrees with a light to moderate northeast breeze.

Wednesday will be a dry and sunny day again. It will be breezier though, with a moderate to fresh easterly breeze with highest temperatures of 14 to 19 degrees, again coolest for eastern counties, and best in the West.

The weather will turn more unsettled to end the week with rain and showers and it will be cooler by the weekend with dry and bright spells returning.

On Wednesday night, most areas will remain dry with clear spells. However, it will turn cloudier across the west and south overnight with outbreaks of rain spreading across the south. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees in moderate easterly winds.

Thursday will be cloudier with outbreaks of rain gradually spreading northeastwards across the country, turning heavy at times. Some northeastern areas will remain dry. Highest temperatures generally of 14 to 18 degrees but cooler in the southwest with highs of 12 to 14 degrees. Moderate east to southeast winds will decrease light in the evening.

Rain will gradually ease and become patchier on Thursday night with clear spells developing. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in light southeasterly winds.

There will be a mix of sunny spells and showers on Friday with highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees in light to moderate south to southwest winds.

It'll be cloudier on Saturday with widespread showers, some of which may turn heavy. Feeling cooler with highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees. Light southwesterly winds will veer northwesterly through the day.

Turning cooler on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday with a mix of scattered showers and sunny spells.
