Bluebird Care Carlow and Kilkenny fundraising event for local cancer support centre

Community fundraising will take place at the Callan Road office on Friday 19 June, with a contribution to Kilkenny’s cancer support centre for every kilometre cycled
Bluebird Care Carlow and Kilkenny will open the doors of its Callan Road office on Friday 19 June for The Big Bluebird Care Bike Challenge.
This will be a day of community fundraising in aid of Cois Nore, the cancer support centre serving Kilkenny city and county.
From 9am to 4pm, staff, families, clients and members of the public are invited to drop in, take a turn on a bank of stationary bikes, and clock up kilometres for the cause.
Bluebird Care will donate to Cois Nore for every kilometre covered across the day, and the team is aiming to keep the wheels turning from start to finish.
The bikes will be set up outdoors at the office on Callan Road, and a coffee van will be on site from 10am to 3pm serving complimentary tea, coffee, and snacks for everyone who calls in.
All are welcome, whether to cycle, cheer the riders on or simply stop by for a coffee and a chat.
Cois Nore is a volunteer led cancer support centre based on the Waterford Road in Kilkenny.
It provides free and confidential support to people of all ages affected by cancer, and to their families, right across Kilkenny city and county.
As a local service that relies on community fundraising, every euro raised helps Cois Nore keep its services free of charge.
Brian Egan, Director, Bluebird Care Carlow and Kilkenny, said, “Cois Nore does extraordinary work for families in Kilkenny at the most difficult of times, and supporting the centre means a great deal to the team here.
The Big Bluebird Care Bike Challenge is a simple idea with a big heart. Every kilometre cycled turns into a contribution for Cois Nore, so the more people who call in and take a turn on the bikes, the more is raised.
“Everyone is welcome, and a warm cup of coffee is waiting.”
Mary Dolan, Cois Nore spokesperson, said, “The generosity of the local community is what keeps Cois Nore going.
“The support of the team at Bluebird Care, and of everyone who comes along to cycle on the day, makes a real and lasting difference to people living with cancer in Kilkenny.
“Cois Nore is very grateful to be chosen as the charity partner for the day.”
The Big Bluebird Care Bike Challenge takes place at the Bluebird Care Carlow and Kilkenny office, Callan Road, Kilkenny, R95 CV99, on Friday 19 June from 9am to 4pm.
There is no entry fee and no need to register in advance. Everyone is welcome to drop in at any point during the day.
