Carlow GAA club seeks planning permission for new pitch floodlights

Plans include 18 floodlights at the Graiguecullen grounds to support evening training and matches
A popular Carlow GAA club is seeking planning permission for upgrades to its facilities, with proposals aimed at enhancing its main playing pitch.
St. Patrick’s AFC has submitted an application to Carlow County Council for the installation of floodlighting around the perimeter of its pitch.
The club’s grounds are located on Sleaty Street in Graiguecullen, where the proposed development would support extended use of the pitch, particularly during evening training sessions and matches.
If approved by Carlow County Council it will consist of 18 floodlights which will be 15 metres in height. The application also seeks approval for the needed associated poles and all necessary site works.
A submission or observation in relation to the application can be made in writing to the planning authority for a prescribed fee of €20.
This must be within five weeks of the authority first receiving the planning application.
Any submissions or observations on the proposed project must be submitted by Thursday May 28, with the final decision on the planning application due on June 18,2026.
