'It breaks my heart' - Shock and anger in Carlow as young puppy found in terrible state
Cody, a young puppy, has been saved by an animal rescue charity after he was found near Carlow
Shock and disgust on social media as a puppy was found near Carlow recently in a heartbreaking condition.
My Lovely Horse Rescue discovered the puppy, who is not even one year old, between Carlow and Kilkenny.
The animal rescue said: “This poor little boy is just a baby, not even a year old. His little body is covered in cuts, and his poor nose is badly cut, possibly from an ill-fitting muzzle”.
The animal rescue said: “Just look at his face. He looks so frightened, so defeated, so broken. No animal should ever have to suffer like this.
“Thankfully, he is safe now, surrounded by love and care at My Lovely Horse Animal Rescue. We will give him all the kindness he deserves, but our hearts break knowing he’s been through hell and back, so young.
“And there are so many others still suffering out there. It’s just not right”.
My Lovely Horse Rescue is currently seeking financial aid for Cody to help care for him and the many other animals in their care.

People on social media were shocked and horrified at the situation. Over 150 people commented on My Lovely Horse Rescue’s post of Cody’s story.
One person said: “Donated. Thank you for your continuous hard work, looking after all these poor neglected animals.
“It breaks my heart that humans can be so cruel. The laws need to change in this country towards animal cruelty. We should have a Minister for Animals, and also all animal charities should be government-funded (like the cruel horse racing and Greyhound Racing). Rant over”.
Another person commented: “Bless him, dear wee soul. Is it just never-ending. Thank you for saving him. You’re safe now, sweet Cody”.
“Absolutely heartbreaking. This cruelty is never-ending, and most people are aware of who the culprits are. Thanks to you wonderful people, he's now safe. His new life begins. A life of love, care, a warm bed, food to eat and company. I pray this beautiful baby will recover and trust again. Thank you for saving him,” another concerned person commented.
